What to Expect from Your Free Consultation

Most consultations take 60 to 90 minutes, depending on how many windows you are covering. Here is exactly what happens.

1. We come to your home. A Golden West designer arrives at the time you booked. They bring physical samples of every material we make (wood, poly, polylux), color and stain swatches, and frame profiles. You can see and touch every option in your home’s natural lighting before deciding anything.

2. We measure every window. Our designer measures each window precisely, photographs the existing trim, and notes any unusual shapes (bays, arches, French doors, sliders). This becomes the basis for your custom panels in the factory.

3. We talk through your goals. Glare on your home office screen? Privacy in a master bath that faces the neighbor’s window? Energy bills creeping up every August? Tell us what you are trying to fix in each room. We have built shutters for over 60,000 homes and have likely solved the same problem before.

4. You get a quotation. We’ll provide an accurate quotation for the project, including materials, finish, frame style, and installation. You can think it over, talk it through with your spouse, and decide on your timeline.

5. No pressure, no follow-up calls. If you want to move forward, we schedule production. If you do not, that is fine too. We do not run telemarketing scripts or chase you with sales emails.

Common Questions Before Booking

Will the consultation cost anything?

No. The in-home visit, measurements, samples, and written estimate are all free, with no obligation to buy.

How long does the consultation take?

Plan for 60 to 90 minutes for a typical home. Smaller projects (one or two rooms) can be shorter. Whole-home projects may run longer.

Will the installation damage my walls?

No. Our shutters mount inside or just outside the window frame using small fasteners that go into existing trim or framing. Removal would leave only small holes that fill easily, similar to picture hangers.

What if I change my mind about color or material later?

You have until the order is signed off and sent to the factory to change anything. We provide a physical color sample on the actual shutter material before production runs, so you see the exact finish, not a digital approximation.

Do I need to be home for the entire visit?

You should be present at the start so we can talk through your goals room by room. You do not need to hover. Most homeowners go back to work or family time while we measure.

How soon can you come out?

What is the lead time after I order?

3 to 5 weeks from order approval to installation, with installation usually completed in a single day.
