Custom poly shutters
Poly shutters, also called faux wood or composite shutters, are our line for windows exposed to outside moisture across Orange County: beach homes, rentals, and windows left open in the rain. They wipe clean and won't warp or fade. Installed by our own crew.
When poly is the right choice
Most rooms in an Orange County home do beautifully with real wood. Poly earns its place where moisture comes from outside: salt air and ocean spray near the beach, rental homes where windows get left open, and any window that stays open through the rain. Our poly is extruded polyurethane reinforced with aluminum, color-stable in direct sun, and built with the same custom approach as our wood line.
Best for
Beach and bluff homes, rental properties, windows left open to the weather, pool- or spa-adjacent windows, and bathroom windows that take direct shower spray.
Why custom poly shutters
Moisture-resistant
Holds up to steam, humidity, and splashes. Doesn't swell, crack, or peel in wet spaces.
Easy to clean
Smooth, non-porous surface. Wipe with a damp cloth. No special cleaners, no maintenance schedule.
Color-stable
UV-stable formulation. Won't yellow or fade in a south-facing kitchen or sunlit bathroom.
Custom-built
Same approach as our wood line: measured and built to your exact opening, including arches and angles.
Aluminum-reinforced
Extruded polyurethane reinforced with aluminum. Solid and straight, not the thin, hollow vinyl sold at big-box stores.
Made for the coast
Beach homes, rentals, and windows left open in the rain. Where outside moisture is relentless, poly is at home.
Where poly shines
Wherever water reaches the window itself (beach homes, rentals, open windows), poly outperforms wood by a clear margin.

Windows that take spray
A window beside the tub or shower that gets hit every day. Poly handles direct water without flinching.

Windows left open
The kitchen or patio window that stays open, rain or shine. Poly shrugs off what blows in and wipes clean.
Poly vs wood: which is right for your home?
Poly is the right call where outside moisture reaches the window; wood is the right call for most rooms. A side-by-side on the practical differences.

Common questions
Are poly shutters the same as PVC, vinyl, or faux wood shutters?
No. The names get used interchangeably, but the materials differ. PVC and vinyl shutters are often thin and hollow. Ours is a solid, extruded polyurethane reinforced with aluminum, a higher grade than the vinyl sold at big-box stores. It is custom-built to your opening, not stocked, with the same fit and finish as our wood line.
Do you build PVC shutters for Orange County bathrooms and kitchens?
We build something better: solid poly, an extruded polyurethane reinforced with aluminum. It is our recommendation for beach homes, rentals, windows that stay open, and bathroom windows that take direct shower spray. It will not swell, crack, or peel, and it wipes clean. Built at our Lake Forest factory with a lifetime warranty.
Do poly shutters fade in direct sun?
No. The poly we use is UV-stable, so it holds its color on a sunny, ocean-facing window. It will not yellow the way lower-grade vinyl can.
