Custom shades
Our seven shade families
Roller, solar, cellular, Roman, woven, zebra, pleated. Different shades solve different problems. We help you choose by room, by light direction, and by aesthetic.
By variety
From rollers to woven wood

Roller shades
Single sheet of fabric on a roller. The simplest shade money buys, in the widest fabric range. Choose light filtering for daytime privacy, or blackout for media rooms and bedrooms.
Best for: Modern interiors, media rooms, bedrooms needing full darkening.

Solar shades
Roller shades woven from a technical mesh that cuts glare and blocks UV while keeping your view. The tighter the weave, the more sun control. Made for the bright, west-facing rooms common across Orange County.
Best for: Sun-filled rooms, ocean and city views, protecting floors and furniture from fading.

Cellular shades
Honeycomb cells trap air for measurable insulation: the most energy-efficient shade we sell. Single, double, and triple cell available, top-down/bottom-up configurations standard.
Best for: West- and south-facing windows, energy-conscious homes, bedrooms.

Roman shades
Soft folded fabric with the look of an upholstered window treatment. Drapery aesthetic without the rod and brackets. Choose flat fold for clean lines or hobbled fold for traditional fullness.
Best for: Formal living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms. Anywhere fabric warmth matters.

Woven wood shades
Real wood, grass, and reed weaves with natural texture you can feel. Filters light beautifully, and every weave casts a slightly different pattern across the room. Pair with a privacy liner for bedrooms.
Best for: Beach houses, sunrooms, organic / coastal interiors, eclectic spaces.

Zebra shades
Alternating sheer and opaque bands on a single roller. Roll to overlap the opaque bands for privacy, or align the sheer bands for filtered daylight.
Best for: Modern living rooms, home offices, kitchens needing flexible light.

Pleated shades
Crisp accordion folds in a slim profile. More refined than a roller, lighter than a Roman. Available in a wide opacity range from sheer to room-darkening.
Best for: Transitional interiors, smaller windows, secondary rooms.

Common questions
What is the difference between light-filtering, room-darkening, and blackout shades?
Light-filtering shades let soft daylight through while giving you daytime privacy, so the room stays bright but no one can see in clearly. Room-darkening shades block most light and are good for bedrooms and nurseries where you want a dim room without total darkness. Blackout shades stop nearly all light, which is why we recommend them for media rooms and for anyone who sleeps during the day. You pick the opacity per room at your free in-home consultation, and we light-test each window before you decide.
For a hot, sun-facing window, should I get solar shades or cellular shades?
Solar shades are the better choice when you want to keep your view, because they are woven from a technical mesh that cuts glare and blocks UV while you still see outside. Cellular shades are the better choice for insulation, since their honeycomb cells trap air and are the most energy-efficient shade we sell. A tighter solar weave blocks more sun, and cellular shades come in single, double, and triple cell for more insulation. Both work well on the west- and south-facing windows that are common across Orange County.
How do zebra shades work?
Zebra shades have alternating sheer and opaque fabric bands on a single roller. You roll the shade so the opaque bands line up for privacy and light blocking, or shift it so the sheer bands align for filtered daylight and a view. This lets you change the light in one room throughout the day without swapping shades. They suit modern living rooms, home offices, and kitchens that need flexible light.
Do motorized shades need to be plugged in?
No, motorized shades do not have to be plugged in. We offer battery-powered, hardwired, and smart-home integrated options, so you can pick what fits the window and the room. Battery units avoid running new wiring, while hardwired units never need recharging. On install day our crew programs the schedule and remotes so everything works from the start.
Are your cordless shades safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Every shade we make ships cordless unless you specifically ask for cords, so there are no hanging pull cords for children or pets to reach. You simply lift or lower the shade by hand to set the height. Going cordless also gives a cleaner look at the window with nothing dangling on the side. We build these shades at our Lake Forest factory and back them with a lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship.
